| continuum: Poble Nou in Barcelona (es) used to be a working man's barrio. But since the 1992 Olympics, the city council has tried to wipe out everything that doesn't show progress from an esthetic or commercial point of view: the barrio's people are bought out and the old houses demolished and replaced by dead office buildings and multinational's franchises. These 2007 images show the ugly face of innovation. |
| konkret: shot in Barcelona (ES) in Poble Nou, the Mies van der Rohe pavilion and the CaixaForum. The first image was inspired by J.G. Ballard's novel Concrete Island: The whole city was now asleep, part of an immense unconscious Europe, while he himself crawled about on a forgotten traffic island like the nightmare of this slumbering continent. related to ├ crash └ struktur |
